TOKAGECUBE (トカゲキューブ)
Project Name: TOKAGECUBE (トカゲキューブ)
Industry: Project For Class
Year: 2023
Type of Project: Music Visualizer/Motion Graphics
About This Project: The original version of this was a drawn, static CD cover design that I made for my Advanced graphic Design course, but some of my classmates gave me the idea to expand the concept further, into an animated music visualizer, like those on iTunes. After completing it for my Design Studio & Practice course, I submitted the piece to Fitchburg Sate University’s Visions 2023 exhibition, which it was accepted as that year’s only motion graphics piece.
For the type, much of my inspiration came from the WGBH sting designed by Gershon Kingsley and how the station’s logo animates in like a neon orange sign at night. As for the visuals, I had a mix of inspirations, from game covers for early 2000’s Nintendo Gamecube and PS2 to aesthetics in Sega fan publications from around the time.
