About This Project: This project is not associated with the MBTA or MassDOT. Nevertheless, their schedules always made a good excuse for practice, especially when it was for an assignment in my Typography class.

The goal was to make a transit schedule look interesting and add accessibility to the text to make it easy to read. The idea to make the listed times in the inner spread darker as the inbound and outbound schedules went further down was an idea from my professor, as a means to direct the viewer’s eye movement down the page. The numbered circles at listed each stop were inspired by speed limit signs from, well… everywhere except the US, while their placement in a connected line comes from how, like many developed transit systems around the world, Boston’s subway system maps out their routes with color-coded lines and dots.
