About This Project: While working for Exsel Advertising, Babcock’s subsidiary flowchart gave me a rather surprising challenge. My goal was to arrange the photos like a puzzle, find a way to make the frames fit together in a creative way.

At first, I had experimented with placing color blocks and photo frames like I was composing a Piet Mondrian panting or shape them like puzzle pieces. It was when I had seen a block puzzle for one of Exsel’s clients, Southbridge Credit Union, that I had gotten the idea to base the final composition like a pipe-shaped version of that. The back’s composition was inspired the subway maps of the MBTA, representing each subsidiary and its major functions as stops on a line made for a more interesting way to display the information than with basic bullet points.
